The Prototyping Stage

After brainstorming ideas, each member of our team took the responsibility of making low-fidelity prototypes for at least one user task using Balsamiq. This was to quickly and simply communicate design concepts and layouts.

After we reviewed all the wireframes and learned from each other's design ideas, high-fidelity prototypes were created individually for different user tasks using Figma. This was to provide more realistic representations of the app design, helping to ensure that the users' needs are met.

Given below are the individual low-fi and high-fi prototypes that each of our team members made.

Xin Yan's Lo-Fi Prototype

User task 1

Strengths:

1. Multiple sign-up options

2. Good use of progress bars to show system status during sigh up

3. Users can select the goal they want to achieve, and the app will create a profile tailored to that goal

Weaknesses:

1. Does not specify the acceptable file formats for each document

2. Can provide more types of user inputs under personal info

Xin Yan's Hi-Fi Prototype

User task 1

Strengths:

1. Clear call-to-action button on the sign up page with password validation

2. Clickable progress bar to show which stage the user is in

3. Good overall organisation with detailed guidance to the users

Weaknesses:

1. Better to include height, weight, and shoe size in "About you"

2. Regarding age, it can refer to the person's real age or their screen age, which is not clear

3. Need to inform users about the purpose of providing sensitive data

4. Should allow the uploading of multiple photos instead of just one

Group Interactive Protoype

After reviewing each other's high-fidelity prototypes, we come together to combine them into one continuous flow. We took the merits of each individual prototype and put them together to form our combined interactive prototype for testing later.

Choice of colours

In the end, we chose Xin Yan’s colour schemes as these colours create a visually appealing and professional experience for users of our app. The colours are shown in the colour palette on top. This warm, neutral tone creates a clean look that is easy on the eyes, while also providing a sense of warmth and friendliness. This helps to create a comfortable and inviting user experience that encourages users to spend more time in the app and engage with its features.

When it comes to the text colour scheme, we use muted brown colour schemes to create a more visually pleasing and comfortable experience for users. This helps to reduce user fatigue and makes it easier for users to engage with the app over time.

Choice of fonts

We chose to use SF Pro as SF Pro's clean and modern design can help to convey a sense of professionalism and sophistication, which may be important for a casting call application that is used by performers and companies in the entertainment industry.

SF Pro's legibility and readability can help to ensure that users are able to quickly and easily read and understand the text within the app, which may be especially important for performers who may be reviewing multiple casting calls in a short period of time.
